Giving

Join us, your fellow alumni and friends in supporting the AFBHS scholarship program.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Gifts may be designated either as Unrestricted or as in support of a Named Endowment Fund (see Funds and Endowments tab).  Pledges for multiple year contributions are also very much encouraged.

The Alumni and Friends of Belmont High School, Inc. has received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS. Our federal tax ID is 26-1224683 and our MA Attorney General Account # is 047455. We are an all-volunteer organization. No goods or services are provided in return for your gift; therefore your contributions are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

How to Donate

(1) You may mail a check directly to AFBHS, P.O. Box 40, Belmont, MA 02478.  When you do so please fill out and enclose a copy of the donation form that you can obtain at the bottom of this page. We would like to know your address and your BHS Class year if you are a graduate, so we can acknowledge your gift.  If the total donations of a single class exceed the amount needed for a full scholarship in any one year, the excess will be used to create and grow a Class Endowment Fund (see Funds and Endowments tab)

(2) You may donate via PayPal to our account: afbhs@afbhs.org and send us your contact information and Class year.

(3) You may wish to donate by providing the necessary language in your will or life insurance policies. Such bequests can be money, real estate, stocks, bonds, or other assets. In order to remember Belmont High School in your will, you need only bequeath a gift “To the Alumni and Friends of Belmont High School, Inc. for scholarships to Belmont High School Graduates.”  Officers and directors of AFBHS will be pleased to discuss your particular wishes and answer any questions you might have. (4) Should you wish your contribution to go towards creating a new Named Endowment Fund (see Funds and Endowments tab) or to add to an existing Named Endowment, simply indicate so in the memo corner of the check and/or on the donation form you include with your donation.

Unless specified for a specific Named Endowment Fund, donations will be designated Unrestricted. (See Funds and Endowments tab.) Unrestricted funds not needed for annual expenses and scholarships will, upon decision by the Board of Directors, be used to increase investments in the General Endowment Fund.  Direct donation to the General Endowment is not permitted.

How to Donate or Pledge

Forms with which to donate or pledge are given at the bottom of the Forms tab.  Simply fill one out electronically, print it out and mail it to AFBHS, PO Box 40, Belmont, MA 02478 with your check if applicable. Pledges for multiple year donations are especially helpful for scholarship giving and investment planning.  A number of contributors are already helping in this way.  If you have any questions, or just want to express your intention to pledge directly, email us at info@afbhs.org.
